Rebuild Your Routine After Everything Changed

Stop defending a routine that no longer fits, find the 4 things that make you feel like yourself, and separate what you miss from what you feel guilty about.

You're running an old routine in a life that changed shape.

New job, new city, new baby, new hours. The life is different and the routine isn't, so every day you fail at a schedule that was built for circumstances you no longer have.

Then you decide you've lost your discipline. You haven't. You're running the right routine for the wrong life, and holding onto it is costing you more than dropping it would.

I rebuilt mine from scratch when I started working across time zones. Took 3 goes and about a week each time.

The prompts

1. Start here

Works out what to stop defending.

The routine reset prompt
My life has changed: [what changed]. Ask me what my old routine was and which parts genuinely no longer fit, then tell me what to stop trying to keep.

2. Go deeper

Finds the smallest version that still feels like you.

The minimum routine prompt
Now build the minimum version: the 4 things that have to happen in a week for me to feel like myself. Nothing else.

3. Bonus

Separates what you miss from what you feel guilty about.

The missing vs guilt prompt
Ask me questions about the things I've dropped, then tell me which ones I actually miss and which ones I only feel guilty about not doing.

Bonus: Make it yours

Say how long ago the change happened. Week 2 and month 8 need completely different plans.

Do this today: name one thing you've been failing at since the change and give yourself permission to stop. That's the whole first step.
