Restart the Goal You've Quit 4 Times

An autopsy of every previous attempt, a 90-day plan built around the pattern, and your early warning sign.

You keep rebuilding on the same broken foundation.

Fourth attempt. New app, new plan, new start date, same collapse around week 3. You've changed everything about the plan and nothing about the thing that ends it.

Each restart also costs more than the last, because you're now carrying the evidence of 3 failures into it. That's not motivation you're missing, that's an unexamined pattern doing its job perfectly.

The goal I finally stuck was the one where I planned for the exact week I always quit.

The prompts

1. Start here

An honest autopsy before any planning.

The quit autopsy prompt
I've started [goal] and quit [number] times. Ask me what happened each time, when exactly it fell apart, and what was going on in my life. Then tell me the pattern.

2. Go deeper

Builds the plan around the pattern instead of ignoring it.

The pattern-aware 90-day plan prompt
Now design the 90-day version that assumes that pattern will happen again, and builds around it rather than pretending I'll be different this time.

3. Bonus

The signal you can catch before the collapse.

The early warning prompt
Give me the early warning sign that I'm about to quit again, and the single thing to do in the week I notice it.

Bonus: Make it yours

Include the attempts you'd rather not mention. The pattern lives in those ones.

Do this today: write down when each attempt died. Week 3, week 6, the week you travelled. The pattern shows up almost immediately.
