The Procrastination Decoder

Claude knows why you keep avoiding that one task. Find out whether the task is unclear, too big, blocked, or something you don't actually want.

It's been on your list for 6 weeks and you're not lazy.

There's one thing that moves from list to list, week after week, collecting a bit of guilt each time. You've tried discipline. Discipline is not the issue.

Tasks stick for 4 reasons: the task is unclear, it's too big, it needs someone who hasn't replied, or you don't actually want the outcome. The door isn't heavy, it's jammed, and you keep pushing harder on the wrong part of it.

I've had one line sit on my list for 5 weeks. Turns out it was reason 4. Deleting it took 3 seconds.

The prompts

1. Start here

Claude asks the questions you'd never think to ask yourself.

Prompt
I've been avoiding [task] for [how long]. Ask me 5 questions to work out whether it's stuck because it's unclear, too big, waiting on someone else, or because I don't actually want the outcome.

2. Go deeper

Names the blocker, then makes the task small enough to be embarrassing.

Prompt
Based on my answers, name the real blocker in one sentence, then give me the smallest possible version of this task that still counts as started.

3. Bonus

Runs the same diagnosis across everything else you've been quietly dodging.

Prompt
Here's the rest of my list: [paste]. Tell me which of these are jammed for the same reason, and which one I should delete instead of doing.

Bonus: Make it yours

Tell Claude how you usually talk yourself out of things and it'll spot the pattern faster than you will.

Do this today: pick the oldest thing on your list. Not the biggest. The oldest. That's the one costing you.
